Compared to MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server is much more convenience to use, but it is not free.

Microsoft developed a tool called SSMA (SQL Server Migration Assistant) will help you to migrate from MySQL to SQL Server if you want, it will dramatically cuts the effort, cost, and risk of migrating. This tool support SQL Server 2008 and SQL Azure.

Download SSMA 2008 for MySQL v1.0 CTP1.

System Requirements

Windows 7; Windows Server 2003; Windows Server 2008; Windows Server 2008 R2; Windows Vista; Windows XP

  • Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 or a later version
  • The Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 or a later version. The .NET Framework version 2.0 is available on the SQL Server 2008 product media. You can also obtain it from the .NET Framework Developer Center.
  • MySQL Connector/ODBC v5.1.
  • Access to and sufficient permissions on the computer that hosts the target instance of SQL Server 2008 or SQL Azure database.
  • 1 GB RAM.

Here is a brief introduction of the functions NetWorx provides.

Speed Meter
With speed meter, you can monitor network throughput for user-specified periods of time, such as average transfer rate, the maximum transfer rate.

Usage Statistics
It displays the overview of received, sent data for a period. You can specify the period for one day, one week or one month.
Quota
If you reach a percentage of the quota, NetWorx will give you a notification.

Traceroute/Ping
They are two useful commend-line tools for you to test your network, but it is a little difficult for non-IT users to use them, NetWorx allow all of you to use them with GUI.

NetStat
This is really useful, it displays all of the applications with network connections, it also display the remote address.
