Proprietary CPU protection system track CPU usage twice a second in realtime, if CPU usage exceeds a certain threshold then Bluehost will temporarily suspend Mod_deflate.
With a full day of Mod_deflate, it reduced bandwidth 600Mb/s, it is a significant number! As Matt introduced in his blog, Bluehost now have 20Gb/s bandwidth in total.
Not only reduced the bandwidth, but it also speed up your website/blog, with data compressed at server side, it will need less time to transmit the data between server and client.
